William Edward Grant, E.R.A.1, died on 12 November 1942, when H.M.S. Hecla was torpedoed by U-515 with the loss of 281 men. He was the son of William Edward and Laura Grant, of Milland, West Sussex, husband of Margaret Grant, and is commemorated by name on the Portsmouth Memorial.
