Thomas Dalzell Armstrong was commissioned temporary Second Lieutenant in the West Yorkshire Regiment and served with the 11th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 25 August 1915. For his services during the Great War he was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 18 December 1917).
George Jackson Armstrong, brother of the above, was commissioned temporary Second Lieutenant in the West Yorkshire Regiment and served with the 11th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 25 August 1915. Advanced Major, for his services during the Great War he was awarded both the Military Cross (London Gazette 1 January 1917), and the Italian War Cross (London Gazette 17 May 1919).
