David II (1329-1371), Second coinage, Class A, Groat, class A1, Edinburgh, mm. cross pattée, small young bust, tressure of six arcs, trefoils in spandrels, rosette stops, ornate v in david, 4.29g/10h (SCBI 35, 359-60, same obv. die; B 1, fig. 250, same obv. die; S 5092). Good very fine or better but with small weak spots £300-£400

The exact sequence of the Class A groats is difficult to ascertain but those with the ornate u for v in the King’s name certainly come early in the series.
