George Gapon Rich was born in Deptford, London, on 13 January 1905. He joined the Merchant Navy in July 1920 and served in 1942 as First Mate aboard the steel motor vessel African Prince. Advanced Chief Officer, he was awarded the M.B.E. whilst in service with the Merchant Navy. Rich ended his career as Master of the Egyptian Prince on 17 June 1964, his home address given as 309, Limpsfield Road, Sanderstead, Surrey.
Sold with copied Merchant Navy Service Record, including an image of the recipient., but no original documentation.
