Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (6 Cr. Sergt. Jas. Anderson, 2nd Bn. 11th Foot) suspension slack, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise about nearly very fine £60-£80

James Anderson was born in the Parish of Adair, County Limerick, and attested for the 11th Foot at Limerick on 20 February 1851, aged 18. He served abroad at the Cape of Good Hope for 5 years 11 months, in China for 6 months, and in Japan for 9 months. He was appointed Colour-Sergeant in June 1858 and was granted the L.S. & G.C. medal with gratuity of £15 in 1869, this being his sole entitlement. He was discharged at Curragh Camp, Ireland, on 12 March 1872.
