George Sharp was born in the Parish of Walworth, London, and attested for the Royal Artillery in London on 22 August 1867, aged 24, a carman by trade. He served abroad in India from November 1868 to March 1881, and in Egypt from August to November 1882. He was discharged at Woolwich on 28 August 1888, having completed his second period of limited engagement.

Sold with copied discharge papers which confirm both medals (and Khedive’s Star) and change of service number.
