Charles Edward Hamilton Heyman was appointed Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery in June 1877, and subsequently Captain in December 1885, and Major in May 1895. He served with the Royal Artillery in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the Battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive’s Star). Heyman also served in South African war of 1899-1901 as Staff Officer for Prisoners of War (Mentioned in Despatches; Queen’s medal with Clasp, King’s medal with two Clasps).
