Cecil Cundall was born at Nunhead, Kent, on 12 May 1896. He was educated at Dover College and enlisted into the 10th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, on 29 August 1914, aged 18 years. He was discharged on appointment to a commission as Second Lieutenant, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, in February 1915, and proceeded to France. He contracted Trench Feet whilst in the trenches at Fieffes in November 1916, returning to England for treatment. He returned to his regiment in March 1917 and was killed in action at Paschendaele on 30 November 1917. Captain Cundall is commemorated by name on the Tyne Cot Memorial at Zonnebeke, Belgium.
