Diaper, of the Worcestershire Yeomanry, with reference to the death of her son, Trooper Walter N. Griffin, who was killed in action in Palestine. The writer says “Your gallant son died fighting to the last minute of his life. He was sent with a message for more men just after our noble lads had made their brilliant charge. While on the way he got wounded, also his horse. After everything was quiet he was found by the side of three Turks who were also dead. That meant three to one, and I must say that your son accounted for the Turks. He won the greatest of praise amongst all his comrades, and especially from myself, as he was the best lad I ever had.”
