Anthony Clifford Le Hunte Cockbain was the son of Thomas Herbert Cockbain and of Edith Clara Byng Cockbain, and husband of Averil C. Cockbain, of Sithney, Cornwall. He was killed in action on 28 November 1942 and is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
The lot is accompanied by two framed studio portraits, both in uniform, one surmounted with regimental badge; the June 1949 issue of the XI Hussar Journal; and a copy of The Eleventh at War by Dudley Clarke, presented to Mrs A. C. Cockbain by the regiment in memory of her late husband.
