Robert Walter Careswell died of wounds on 15 November 1917, while serving with ‘N’ Special Company, R.E., a gas discharging unit that used cylinders. Aged 21 years, he was interred in the Steenkerke Belgian Military Cemetery; no
London Gazette entry appears to exist for his Belgian Croix de Guerre.
