An M.G.S. pair to Private Frederick Baumgarten, 1st Light Battalion, King’s German Legion, awarded the Guelphic Medal for bravery on several occasions

Military General Service 1793-1814,
5 clasps, Albuhera, Salamanca, Vittoria, St Sebastian, Nive (Fredk. Baumgarten, 1st Lt. Bn. K.G.L.); Hannoverian Medal for Volunteers of the K.G.L. 1814, good very fine (2) £1000-1200

Awarded the Guelphic Medal in the 1818 List:

‘An excellent and brave soldier, who has proved himself at Copenhagen, Flushing, Albuhera, and all other engagements of his battalion; has been wounded often. On 27 February 1814, before Bayonne, he was once more extremely courageous; in particular, with a few comrades he quickly removed a barricade from the road, in the doing of which he alone remained unwounded.’ (Ref Von Wissel p84)

Frederick Baumgarten enlisted on 9 December 1805, and was discharged due to wounds on 7 September 1814.
