Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (Drumr. Thos. Holt, 3rd Madrs. Eurpn. Regt.) clasp backstrap scratched, edge bruising and lacquered, otherwise very fine £140-160

Thomas Holt was born in the province of Mysore, India and enlisted in the 3rd Madras Europen Regiment in May 1854, aged 12 years. Following active service in the Indian Mutiny, when he was present in the operations in Central India, including the Battle of Banda, he transferred to the 108th Regiment (2nd Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers) as a Drummer in February 1861. Imprisoned for being ‘drunk on duty’ on several occasions over the coming years, he transferred to the 16th Regiment in November 1877 and was finally discharged in May 1879.
