Edward Victor Carpenter was born in Taunton and enlisted at Bordon, Hampshire. Serving with the 1st Battalion Somerset Light Infantry, he was killed in action, on the First Day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, aged 20 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. For father’s medals see lot 331.
