Hugh Lemarchand was born in Instow, Barnstaple, Devon in 1879 and attested for the Imperial Yeomanry on 29 January 1900. He served with the 52nd (Paget’s Horse) Company, 19th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa between 16 March and 21 August 1900. Discharged at his own request in October 1900, he served as a civilian volunteer in the S. Nigeria Regiment during 1904-05. Lemarchand was commissioned in the Reserve Cavalry in September 1914 and served in France / Flanders, 1916-18. Sold with some service details.
