Alfred Keirl was born in Bridgewater, Somerset. A Draper by occupation, he joined the Metropolitan Police Force on 31 March 1884, aged 19 years. Serving initially in ‘T’ Division, he later served in ‘A’ (Buckingham Palace) Division. He resigned from the Police Force on 4 April 1910 and died on 10 May 1949.
