Pair: Second Lieutenant J. L. Barnicot, Lincolnshire Regiment, who was killed in action, 22 December 1916

John Livingston Barnicot was born in Shepley, Huddersfield, on 14 December 1897. He was educated at Clive House School, Colwyn Bay and at Marlborough College, leaving the latter at Easter 1915. From the Officers’ Training Corps of the College he obtained his commission in the 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment on 12 June 1915. For nine months he was attached to a headquarters’ staff at an east coast town but then joined his regiment at the front in September 1916. He was killed in action at Vormelles on 22 December 1916, killed by artillery fire. He was buried in Vermelles British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. Sold with original slip to accompany the plaque and a commemorative slip from Marlborough College ?; together with copied research including War Diary extracts.
