Henry Jackson was born in the Parish of St. Nicholas, Nottingham. He enlisted into the 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards on 6 April 1801, aged 23 years. He served with the Guards in the Peninsula War and was awarded a medal with 4 clasps. A total of 47 four clasp medals were awarded to the 3rd Guards - the combination to Jackson being unique. Jackson was discharged due to a fistula on 30 November 1818. The Census of 1851 records him as a Chelsea Out Pensioner living at Jubilee Court, Turks Row, Chelsea. Sold with copied discharge papers.
