Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Ava (A. McDonald, 47th Foot), short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, slight contact marks, very fine £800-900

Alexander McDonald was born in Ling (?), Co. Westmeath. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for service in the 47th Foot on 21 June 1821, aged 18 years. With the regiment he served in the Burma campaign of 1824-26. He was discharged from the 47th in April 1828 as a consequence of volunteering for service with the 31st Foot. He was discharged at Chatham on 12 July 1844 being found unfit for further service. Sold with copied service papers.
