Three: Gunner J. Andrews, Royal Artillery

Crimea 1854-56, 4 clasps, Alma, Balaklava, Inkermann, Sebastopol (Gunnr., Rl. Arty.), officially impressed naming; New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated, ‘1861 to 1866’ (Gunr., C. Batty. 4th Brigde. R.A.); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, unnamed, pierced with ring suspension, first two with edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine; last good very fine (3) £800-1000

Joseph Andrews was born near Sutton, Warwickshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Coventry on 20 June 1833, aged 18 years. He served over two years in the Crimea and was awarded the medal with four clasps, and served in New Zealand during 1861-66. He was discharged as being medically unfit on 26 December 1871, aged 36 years. Sold with copied discharge papers and New Zealand Medal roll extract.
