James Robinson was born in Monks Town in the City of Dublin, on 14 June 1900. He was a Cadet at the Military Academy at Quetta, October 1918-April 1919. Robinson was commissioned a Second-Lieutenant on the Unattached List in April 1919 and was on regimental duty with the 57th Rifles, April 1919-December 1922. Promoted to Lieutenant in April 1920 and appointed Quartermaster and Captain in April 1925, he was transferred to the 4th/13th F.F.R. in December 1922. He was advanced to Major in April 1937, serving with the 2/4th Bombay Grenadiers. Promoted to Acting Lieutenant-Colonel with the 25th Grenadiers in August 1942, he assumed command of the 25th Regiment as Lieutenant-Colonel in April 1945. Posted to Army H.Q. in September 1946, he left the Indian Army at his own request on 31 December 1947. Sold with copied service papers. Clasps confirmed.
