William III (1694-1702), Proof Halfpenny, 1696, type I, in silver-gilt, reads mag br, edge grained, 6.65g/12h (S –; DF –; LaRiviere 188, same dies). Very fine and extremely rare (£600-800)
Not quite as fine as the LaRiviere specimen, although to judge from the flaws in the obverse legend both were struck at the same time. Whether the gilding was applied after these coins left the mint is not known
