Carmelo De Patista was born in the Parish of St Maria, near the village of Musta, Malta. He enlisted in the Royal Malta Fencible Regiment on 21 November 1859, at Valletta. He served as a Private from November 1859 to January 1861, and thereafter as a Gunner in the Royal Malta Fencible Artillery until 9 January 1891, a total of 31 years and 49 days, all spent in Malta. He was awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal and £5 Gratuity in 1880 (G.O. 132 of 1 October 1880). Sold with copy service record.
