Percy Redyhoff was born at Leeds on 7 June 1892, son of Fred Reddyhoff, a bricklayer. He went to Canada in 1912 and engaged in the Royal North West Mounted Police 2 July 1912, at Medicine Hat. He served at Regina and Sawbridge before purchasing his discharge in October 1913. However, he re-engaged the following year on 29 August, and subsequently served at Ogema, Short Creek, Estevan, Assinboia and at North Portal. From 1917 to 1927 he was employed at Regina as a painter and carpenter. Promoted to Corporal in 1923, he was transferred to Dawson in 1927, and subsequently to Carmacks and finally to Vancouver.
