Henry G. Roberts is mentioned in the Battalion History for gallantry in the Battle of Sheria, Palestine in November 1917: ‘... The enemy launched several small counter-attacks, but these were repulsed, and the men spent the day lying in the little niches which each had carved for himself on the ground where he lay. The indirect fire of hostile machine guns and rifles made it impossible to move without casualties. Indeed, several men were wounded without moving, and Private H. G. Roberts, a stretcher-bearer belonging to ‘B’ Company, did gallant work in binding up these cases under fire.’
