William Henry Brown was born on 9 January 1875. He was appointed an Assistant Surgeon 3rd Class in the Indian Subordinate Medical Department, ranking as a Sub-Conductor on 5 February 1895. As such he served in operations with the Malakand Field Force, 1897-98. Later re-classified as Assistant Surgeon 4th Class, he was promoted to 3rd Class in February 1900 and 2nd Class in April 1907. He was awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. in 1913. Further promotions followed, being advanced to Assistant Surgeon 1st Class with the rank of Conductor in April 1914 and then to Senior Assistant Surgeon with the honorary rank of Lieutenant in the Indian Medical Department in June 1915. After the war he was stationed at various hospitals in or near Rawalpindi, Campbellpore, Babugarh and Meerut. Brown was promoted Senior Assistant Surgeon with the rank of Captain in January 1922. His final promotion was as Senior Assistant Surgeon with the rank of Major in the Indian Medical Department in January 1925. Major Brown retired in 1926. Sold with some copied research.
