John Ford was born in Sheffield. A Woodturner by occupation, he attested for the 67th Regiment at Sheffield on 7 August 1854, aged 18 years. With them he served in India, China and the Cape of Good Hope. He was ‘dangerously wounded in the chest at the Taku Forts on the 21st August 1860’. Ford was discharged as ‘unfit for further service’ on 15 August 1872. Sold with copied service papers.
