M.C. London Gazette 1 February 1919. ‘Lt. (A./Capt.) Douglas Mends Gibson, R.F.A. (Spec. Res.), attd. D/157th Bde.’ ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Ypres on the 28th September, 1918. When he was left in command of his battery, as soon as the final barrage line was reached, he pushed forward his guns, and came into actionwell up, silencing an enemy battery which was firing at him. On the way up he had twenty-two casualties and twenty horses killed, besides one gun blown up, but his detirmined leading overcame all difficulties’.
