Pyrrhos, Nomos, c. 280-272, ari sti p, tall slim naked older ephebos standing half-right, knee bent, turning to unbridle horse stepping left, ridden by younger ephebos, hands holding mane, rev. taras, naked heroic Taras seated right on dolphin swimming right, about to dismount, holding bow and arrow, Indian elephant to right below, 6.39g/8h (Vlasto 736; SNG ANS 1103-4; HN Italy 1000). Extremely fine and attractively toned; a masterly example of early Hellenistic art of the Lysippan school (£1,500-2,000)
