H. F. Ingram served as Rifleman in the 11th Battalion London Regiment (Finsbury Rifles) in the period between the wars. By A.O. 125 of May 1934 he was awarded the Efficiency Medal (Territorial). During the Second World War he served as a Sergeant in the Royal Artillery. Ingram was awarded his 2nd and 3rd Award Clasps by A.O. 26 of February 1947; his 4th Award Clasp was awarded by List No. 8 of A.O. March 1948.
