Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, Suakin 1885 (Maj. & Staff Paymr. T. C. A. Fox, A.P.D.) minor edge bruising, some pitting, very fine £250-300

Thomas Charles Armstrong Fox was born on 4 February 1846. Appointed Paymaster, 49th Foot, 2 September 1878; ranked as Major, September 1883; Staff Paymaster, April 1885; Staff Paymaster Gibraltar, 1889; Hon. Lieutenant-Colonel, April 1892, and Lieutenant-Colonel, No. 32 Regimental District, Bodmin, 1894. Fox was Paymaster to the 49th Foot (1st Berkshires) in the Sudan expedition of 1885. He was attached to the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards at Suakin, and was present at the surrender of Kafr Dowar. Five Army Pay Department Field Officers accompanied the Suakin Expedition. Sold with some copied notes.
