One Pound, 10 March 1903, H prefix, uniface proofs of front and back on card, ‘Feb. 19th 1903’ pencilled above printed signature of J.R. Wood at bottom, three small punch-holes (Douglas 30-1) [2]. Scuffing and heavy smudging on backs, otherwise good very fine to about extremely fine £150-180
In 1904 the contract for printing notes was awarded to Waterlow & Sons Ltd. This followed a series of internal problems within Perkins, Bacon & Co which had raised serious concerns about the continued printing and supply of banknotes. Due to the shortage of time available the basic frontal printing was retained although a fresh design for the backs was ready for the new issue in April 1905
