Major Charles Edward Scott, 6th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment was mobilised in 1914 and entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 16 April 1915. As Acting Lieutenant-Colonel he was wounded in July 1916 at the Liepzig Salient. Evacuated to Etaples, he died of his wounds on 9 August 1916, aged 49 years. He was buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery. Charles Edward Scott in civilian life was a Solicitor, admitted in 1889 and was a member of the firm of Wade, Tetley, Wade & Scott of Bradford. He
was the son of Walter and Jessie Scott of Bradford and the husband of Margaret E. M. Scott of Grieves Ash, Wilmer Drive, Heaton, Bradford.
Sold with copied photograph and research. Also with two postcards to his sons Hilary and Ronald Scott, dated 18 September and 16 October 1915 respectively, and 22 letter envelopes (empty) addressed to his home at Grieves Ash, Wilmer Drive, Heaton - all with ‘Field Post’ and ‘Censor’ stamp marks.
