France, Union des femmes de France, petrograd, 1917, bronze gilt medal by Rasumny, issued by Deseaux & Co., helmeted bust of France right, stamped, patria to right, “A la Vicomtesse de Lestrange reconnaissance de sa bravoure et son devouement” across dress below, reverse winged figure wearing cap of Liberty charging left holding banner and sword, legend below, 68mm (cf. BDM V, p. 35). Obverse a little spotty, very fine to extremely fine (£35-45)

No details of the events leading to this award to the Vicomtesse at present known to the consignor or cataloguer, but doubtless further research would reveal an interesting story.
