Fred Karno, the pseudonym of Frederick John Westcott (1866-1941), theatre impresario based at Walworth, London; among those who worked for him were Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel. The show Moses & Son was first performed in Birmingham, where David Magnay thought the pieces were probably issued (which is why he classified them as Warwickshire), before going on tour.
