This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The collection of medals to the 41st and 69th Regiments of Foot (The Welch Regiment) formed by the late colonel Dudley Thornton, CBE.

Henry Lawrence was born at Mollington, Oxfordshire, and enlisted into the 41st Regiment at York on 7 December, 1854, aged 27. He landed in the Crimea on 16 June, 1855, and was killed in action in the final attack on the Redan, 8 September, 1855.
