Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (Charles Brierley); together with the Victory Medal 1914-19 (7509 Pte. C. Brierley, North’n. R.) good very fine and better (4) £100-140

Frank Allen was born in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire and enlisted at Northampton. Serving as an Acting Sergeant in the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, he died of wounds on 2 March 1916, aged 38 years. He was buried in the Bethune Town Cemetery. He was the son of Charles and Eliza Allen of Church Street, Long Buckby and husband of Charlotte Allen of 11 Abbey Street, St. James’ End, Northampton. Allen had previously served in the South African and North West Frontier Campaigns.

Charles Brierley was born in Titchmarsh, Northamptonshire and enlisted at Northampton. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 10 March 1915, aged 30 years. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Catherine Brierley of 39 Whitworth Road, Northampton.
