68471 Private George Ranfield Holmes, 25th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Nova Scotia Regiment), was killed in action on 14 January 1916, aged 28 years. He was buried in the La Laiterie Military Cemetery, Heuvelland, West-Vlaaderen, Belgium. He was the son of James Holmes of Pitsmoor, Sheffield, England.
