Lieutenant General Beregovmu was twice Hero of the Soviet Union. In November 1968, with the rank of Colonel, he successfully captained the orbiting Soyuz 3, being awarded his second Hero Gold Star Medal and the Order of Lenin. As a further honour of his work in space, the Academy 204 in Tashkent was named ‘Academy Beregovmu.’
