Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittebergen (4462 Pte. J. Moody, S. Wales Bord.) edge bruising, otherwise good very fine £80-100

John Moody was born in Kingstown, near Hereford, and was a collier in Ebbw Vale before he enlisted for the South Wales Borderers at Brecon on 6 September 1893. He was one of 33 hand picked NCO’s and men who formed part of the ‘Western Company’ of the 2nd Mounted Infantry for service in South Africa, where he served from October 1899 to September 1902 (Medal with 6 clasps). Sold with copy discharge papers.
