Sergeant Major Alexander Mancor was born in Kirriemuir, Forfar and enlisted into the 30th Regiment at Edinburgh in June 1833. Between then and his discharge in October 1854, he saw three years service overseas, in Cephalonia and Gibraltar, gaining promotion to Corporal in 1839, Sergeant in 1841 and Sergeant-Major in 1848; sold with copy service papers.
