Lewis Heise was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the King’s German Artillery on 15 December 1812. He served in the campaign in Northern Germany 1813-14, and was present with the 2nd Company at the battle of Waterloo where he was slightly wounded on 8 June. His Waterloo medal was dispatched to him at Hannover as a Captain on half pay.
