Hubert Campion was Senior Lieutenant of Vesuvius during all operations in the Black Sea; and was promoted for services at the destruction of corn ricks at Gheisk (Crimean and Turkish Medals, Knight of the Legion of Honour, 5th Class Medjidie). He retired as Rear Admiral, C.B., on 31 December 1878, and was Secretary of the Royal Navy Scripture Readers’ Society.
