A formed Victorian period example in French plush the edges decorated in one inch gold lace gold bullions to both ends and frontal decoration comprising large circular black linen cockade bearing four lines of gold bullions the central two twisted and with a Victorian Flag Officer’s button at the base, crimson silk lining and leather sweatband (worn); together with a pair of Victorian period Royal Naval Officer’s epaulettes, the straps decorated with silver lace and red velvet crowns over silver laced fouled anchors, these retailed by Matthews & Co., Portsea, Portsmouth; a pair of post-1902 Officer’s epaulettes by Gieves Ltd., the straps bearing no rank badges, good overall condition (5) £300-400
