Fazakerley Cottage Homes was a children’s home founded in that part of Liverpool in 1889 to bring up workhouse children ‘under such improved conditions and training as should fit them to become worth keeping in this country’. Contrary to what the name might suggest, the homes consisted of a series of large detached villas built around a central church
