Thomas William Wright was born in Cork on 30 June 1837. He became Assistant Surgeon on the Staff and Surgeon in the Army Medical Department on 24 September 1864, served in the Ashantee campaign of 1873-74, and became Surgeon Major on 3 August 1874. He retired as Brigade Surgeon in June 1882 and died on 10 November 1903.
