A 17th Century Backsword. The 76 cm slightly curved blade with triple fuller is pitted overall and bears what appears to be two crescent armourer’s marks, the iron handguard is pierced with one curved quillon, the knucklebow section with central scallop format, the decorated pommel with lion’s mask, the handgrip of reeded horn (split), elements of the handguard decoration missing and the knucklebow detached at the top end, c. 1640s, condition as described
