At the outbreak of W.W.1, Miss Nellie Reekes Bassett was serving as a Nurse at the Northampton General Hospital and was a member of the Civil Hospital Reserve. She entered France on 16 August 1914 and was posted to No. 8 General Hospital, remaining there until January 1916 when she was invalided home suffering from anaemia and general debility. With a folder containing a quantity of copied service papers.
