Percival Gwilym Thomas was born in Wales on 17 December 1896. A Machinist by occupation, he enlisted into the 56th Battalion at Calgary in June 1915. Posted to the 49th Battalion in France, he was wounded in action during the battle of Vimy Ridge on 9 April 1917 - suffering a bullet wound to the face, for which he was invalided to England. He returned to his unit, however, in March 1918, but was killed in action during the battle of the Canal du Nord on 29 September 1918. He was buried in the St. Olle British Cemetery, Raillencourt. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thomas, of 913 19th Avenue East, Calgary; sold with copied service papers.
