British War and Victory Medals (161091 Pte. G. J. King, 50-Can. Inf.), together with the recipient’s Silver War Badge, the reverse officially numbered ‘C46859’, and his Canadian Memorial Cross, G.VI.R., the reverse officially inscribed, ‘161091 Pte. J. G. King’, with straight-bar suspension brooch, in case of issue, the first with minor edge bruising, otherwise nearly extremely fine (4) £120-160

George Jacob King was born in Northamptonshire on 24 January 1882. A Shoe Maker by occupation, he enlisted into the 89th (Alberta) Battalion at Calgary in May 1915 and was taken on to the strength of the 50th (Calgary) Battalion in France in August 1916. Wounded whilst serving in the Vimy sector on 3 February 1917 - with a gunshot to the right thigh, and other wounds to his arms and legs - he was invalided to England. Discharged as medically unfit at Calgary in April 1919, he was awarded the Silver War Badge, and died in July 1947; sold with copied service papers.
